Cano’s Big Knock Lifts AL

Robinson Cano homered in the 10th to lead the American League past the National League 2-1, in MLB’s All-Star Game.  Cano’s clutch homer, which held up for the victory when the National League was retired in the bottom of the 10th, earned Cano the game’s MVP.  This was the fifth straight victory for the AL over the National League, but this year the outcome didn’t have any significance for the World Series, with Major League Baseball ditching the rule they’d had for several years that whichever league won the All-Star Game would have home-field advantage in the World Series.
