Tribe Acquire Bruce From Mets

Indians on OV Sports Network

The Indians acquired veteran outfielder Jay Bruce from the Mets for minor league pitcher Ryder Ryan.  Cleveland agreed to pick up the roughly $4.2 million left on Bruce’s $13 million salary.  Bruce is hitting .258 with 29 homers and 75 RBI this year.  Bruce, a three-time All-Star, gives the Indians a corner outfielder and established bat to replace Michael Brantley, who went on the DL Monday with a sprained ankle.  Lonnie Chisenhall has also been on the disabled list since early July with a strained calf.
