Weir High’s Michael Mills and Chris Gillette have been named to the West Virginia Double-A All-State first-team baseball squad. Oak Glen’s Noah Feicht earned second-team honors. Special Honorable Mention to Weir’s Donavan Spencer and Oak Glen’s Ty Logston. Weir High’s Jake Rosnick and Oak Glen’s Marques McHaffie earned Honorable Mention.
Indian Creek senior track & field athlete Madison Smith. Madison is the anchor on the 4×400 relay team that captured the Ohio Division II state title with a time of 3:55.84. Madison also finished third in the open 800 and is a member of the 4×800 relay team that finished third. Madison, who is the final athlete of week for the season, receives a plaque compliments of Granada Trophies in Weirton.
Minster scored three unearned runs in the first inning to beat Toronto 3-0 in the Ohio Division IV state semifinals earlier today. Toronto starter Danny Zdinak recorded 12 strikeouts. The Red Knights season ends at (27-4).
Dayton Chaminade Julienne beat Steubenville 3-0 in the Ohio Division II state semifinals yesterday. Big Red finished the season (28-5).
