Boys Soccer, Big Red To Section Final

Steubenville beat Cambridge 5-1 in the Ohio Division II Sectional.  Adam DiCarlo had two goals and an assist for Big Red.  Noah Reinacher also scored twice, while Ryan Delelles had a goal and an assist for Big Red.  2nd-seeded Steubenville will host No. 5 St. Clairsville Saturday at 5 p.m. in the sectional final.

 

Boys Soccer, Bruins Move On

Brooke beat John Marshall 8-1 in the West Virginia Triple-A sectional.  Konner Govey recorded a hat trick for the Bruins.  Jacob Hinerman contributed goals, Nick Cruny, Garrett Bernardini and Gage Barnhart all had one goal for the Bruins.  Brooke faces Wheeling Park for the sectional title tomorrow night at 6 at Wheeling Island Stadium.

 

HS Volleyball, Cats Top Huskies

High School Volleyball, Edison topped Harrison Central 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 29-27 in the Ohio Division III Sectional.  McKenzie Morrison had 14 kills, nine digs, while Allison Crawford had 21 kills, 11 digs and three blocks for the Wildcats.  Kayla Huff recorded 40 assists, three blocks and three digs for Edison.

 

HS Volleyball, OG Wins Tri-Match

Oak Glen beat Fairmont Senior 25-8, 25-4 and the Golden Bears topped Weir High 25-9, 25-18.  Jaedyn Hissam had three points, 34 sets and 19 assists, while Alexa Andrews recorded 12 points and three aces against Fairmont Senior.  Hissam had six points, 30 sets and 15 assists while Alexis Swan had eight points, three aces, seven kills and four blocks.  Hannah Rogers delivered five points, two aces, five kills and five digs against Weir High.

 

Holgorsen’s Son Commits To North Texas

Logan Holgorsen, son of WVU football coach Dana, committed to play for North Texas.  Holgorsen, a 6’1 high school junior, felt he had a leg up on his peers because of his dad’s knowledge of the game and the recruiting process, which helped him reach his decision.

 

Girls Soccer, Dons Blank Tyler

Madonna beat Tyler Consolidated 3-0 in WV AA/A Sectional.  MaKayla Virden had two goals and Kali Krynicki scored once for the Blue Dons.  Goalie Kasey Canei made three saves for Madonna.  The 4th-seeded Blue Dons face top-seeded Oak Glen tomorrow afternoon in Sectional play.
