Weir High beat Berkeley Springs 13-0 in five innings in Game 1 of the best-of-three Regional finals. Michael Mills allowed only three hits and struck out four, at the plate he homered and drove in three for the Red Riders. Levi Mikula and Chris Gillette each had three RBI, Adam Cowden drove in two while Cody Enrietti had one RBI for Weir High. Game 2 is today in Berkeley Springs.
The 16-9 Weir High Red Rider baseball team hosts 15-14 Berkeley Springs today at 5 o’clock in Game 1 of the Region 1 championship playoff. Game 2 is tomorrow in Berkeley Springs, and if necessary Game 3 will be Thursday at Ed Bowman Field.
The 7th-ranked team in the state, Strasburg eliminated Toronto with a 9-2 win in the Division IV District championship game. Serena Burkey had an RBI sacrifice fly for the Red Knights. Toronto finished the season 19-9.
Sandy Valley ended Edison’s season with a 4-1 win in the Division III District title game. McKenzie Morrison went three-for-three, while Sami Springer and Charli McConnell both had multiple hits for the Wildcats.
The Edison High School Baseball team fell to Martins Ferry 2-1 in the Division III District championship game. Larry Bielawski singled, tripled and had an RBI for the Wildcats.
Danny Zdinak had nine Ks, Nolan Clegg singled in a run as the Toronto baseball team topped Strasburg 3-2 to win the Division IV District title. The Red Knights face Danville in the regional May 25 in Lancaster.
The Edison baseball team fell to Martins Ferry 2-1 in the Division III District title game. Larry Bielawski singled, tripled and had an RBI for the Wildcats.
Nick Scott went four-for-four with six RBI as the Steubenville Big Red baseball team beat Cambridge 12-2 in five innings to win the Division II District Championship. Big Red will face Indian Valley May 25 in Zanesville in the regional tournament.
High School Baseball, Weir advanced to the regional tournament with a 9-6 win over Fairmont Senior. Jake Rosnick hit a three-run homer, Donavan Spencer drove in three for Weir High. Levi Mikula, Adam Cowden and Coty Enrietti drove in runs for the Red Riders.
Division II Dover ended Big Red’s season 3-1.
Kameron DiMarzio drove in Big Red’s run. Rhiannon Petrisko and Hayley Stamps both had two hits for Steubenville.
