The Cleveland Indians agreed to a one-year, $5.5 million contract with left-handed reliever Boone Logan. The 32-year-old Logan was 2-5 with a 3.69 ERA in 66 appearances for the Rockies last season.
Wily Mo Pena, signed a minor league deal with the Indians. 34-year-old Pena, who hasn’t played professionally in the United States since 2011, has an eight-year total of 84 home runs, 559 Ks and an average of .250.
The Indians have acquired right-hander Carlos Frias in a trade with the Dodgers for cash. Frias has gone 6-6 with a 4.50 ERA in 33 games over the past three seasons for the Dodgers. To make roster room for Frias, the Indians designated infielder Richie Shaffer for assignment.
The Oakland As agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with former Indians outfielder Rajai Davis. The 36-year-old had 12 homers, 48 RBIs and led the AL with 43 steals.
