Didi Gregorius homered twice to lead the Yankees past the Indians 5-2 in Game 5 of the ALDS to complete their comeback from a 2-0 deficit.  New York advances to face the Astros in the ALCS, Game 1 is tomorrow at Minute Maid Park.

The Cleveland Indians host the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the ALDS tonight at 8:08.  (18-4) Corey Kluber faces (14-5) CC Sabathia.  The winner moves on to the ALCS to face Houston.

 

Yankees Force Game 5 with Tribe

Gary Sanchez homered, Aaron Judge hit a two-run double and Luis Severino struck nine over seven innings, as the Yankees topped the Indians 7-3 to force a deciding Game 5 of the ALDS.  (18-4) Corey Kluber gets the start for Cleveland while (14-5) CC Sabathia goes for New York tomorrow night in Cleveland.

 

Tribe Takes Opener With Yankees

Trevor Bauer allowed just two hits in 6 2/3 innings, Jay Bruce homered and drove in three as the Indians blanked the Yankees 4-0 in the opener of the ALDS.  Game 2 is this afternoon at 5:08 in Cleveland.  (18-4) Corey Kluber takes the hill for the Tribe, while New York counters with (14-5) CC Sabathia.

 

Brantley May Return For Tribe

Indians’ outfielder Michael Brantley, sidelined since August 9 with a sprained ankle ligament, did some running yesterday, and manager Terry Francona said there’s a possibility Brantley could be playing in games this week.

 

Tribe Double Up Angels

Jay Bruce tripled and doubled, Austin Jackson singled four times and the Cleveland Indians doubled up the Los Angeles Angels 6-3 for their 25th win in 26 games.  Edwin Encarnacion added a two-run single in the ninth for Cleveland, which defeated the Angels for the ninth consecutive time.  Tribe pitcher Mike Clevinger allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six.

 

Tribe Wins 21st Straight

Jay Bruce hit a three-run homer and Mike Clevinger won his fourth straight start as the Cleveland Indians set the AL record with their 21st straight win, 5-3 over the Detroit Tigers.  Cleveland has a 14-game lead in the AL Central.  The Indians host the Kansas City Royals tonight.
