NFL Playoff Picks

For the first time since I’ve been alive, I picked all the NFL game right!  Too bad there were only four of them!  Hahaha!  This week I think Atlanta will be Seattle because the Falcons are due.  I feel New England will destroy Houston because it’s Houston.  As much as I want to pick against the Steelers…okay, I will.  AND call me crazy but I think Green Bay beats Dallas.  Hopefully this week’s games are better then the snooze fests we had last week!

Barons WIN!!!

The Franciscan University of Steubenville men’s basketball team won for the first time this season by beating (0-13) Pitt-Greensburg last night.  Keoni Sablan scored 27 points for the Barons and Matt Trent came off the bench and added 17.  Juwan Perkins scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for Franciscan University of Steubenville.  Micheal Mendicino had nine points and Indian Creek graduate Aaron Foldi got some floor time and added one point for the Barons.

Make Sure You Eat At HS Hoops Games

I’m so glad to be doing high school basketball games again this year on the air.  I enjoy interacting with the coaches, players and parents.  I really enjoy the food at the different concession stands in the Valley.  All of our 11 schools in the Upper Ohio Valley have great boosters clubs and hardworking volunteers behind the food counter.  Who has the best food?  I normally don’t eat food…food at the games, I usually have popcorn,

Myles Garrett

The Cleveland Browns have shown interest in drafting Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett.  Garrett wrapped up his college career last night in the Texas Bowl.  In the Aggies 33-28 loss to Kansas State, Garrett record no solo tackles, no sacks, no tackles for a loss, no pass deflections and no hurries.  With that in mind, and as a Browns fan I say…SO WHAT!!!!  Draft the kid anyway, we need defensive help…everywhere!!

Browns…will they or not?

The bumbling Browns are two losses away from becoming the NFL’s second team to go 0-16.  LeSean McCoy rushed for 153 yards and scored twice as the Bills topped Cleveland 33-13.  The Browns dropped to 0-14, matching the second-worst start to a season set by the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 1980 New Orleans Saints.  The 2008 Detroit Lions are the NFL’s only team to go without a win in a 16-game season.  Cleveland has lost 17 straight dating to last year,

Weir High Football Banquet

I am honored to speak at the Weir High Football Banquet later today.  The players will receive letters and awards, but to me the real reason for the banquet is to remember the season, and the sacrifice and dedication each kid showed to make the season a success!  Congrats Red Riders and I’m proud to be a part of your celebration.

Pens On A Roll

Bryan Rust flipped a backhander past Tuukka Rask 1:24 into overtime to lift the Penguins past the Bruins 4-3 for their seventh straight win.  Conor Sheary, Nick Bonino and Justin Schultz also scored for Pittsburgh.  Pen’s goal tender Matt Murray stopped 41 shots to improve to 10-0-1 in his last 11 home starts.  The Pens improved to 20-7-3 to take the overall NHL lead with 43 points.  Odds are the Pens will dangle goalie Marc-Andre Fluery on the trade line.

Cavs Best Start In Franchise History

LeBron James had 28 points and 14 assists, Kyrie Irving scored 24 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers topped the Toronto Raptors 121-117 to match the best start in franchise history after 10 games.  Kevin Love added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Cavs, who are 9-1 for the first time since 1976-77.  Cleveland leads the NBA’s Eastern Conference by one game over 8-2 Atlanta.  The Cavs are back in action tonight as the travel to 5-6 Indiana to face the Pacers at 7 o’clock.

Indian Creek hosts Edison in Rt. 43 Rivalry Tonight

The Indian Creek Redskins host the Edison Wildcats tonight at Kettlewell Memorial Stadium in Wintersville.  Kickoff for the Route 43 Rivalry is 7 o’clock.  I’m sure the grounds crew at Indian Creek is doing the best job possible of preparing or covering the field, but last week’s game vs. South Range tour it up bad.  But you tell me what high school boy doesn’t want to play in the mud!!  Mike and I interviewed both coaches this morning and you can hear them on the Trinity Health System Stream on demand at

SCC Finds Week 10 Opponent

Steubenville Catholic Central will play Reigning Sports Academy this Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at Harding Stadium.  Reigning Sports Academy is a club team from Columbus.  They were originally scheduled to play Bishop Hartley Saturday, but it would be a meaningless game for Hartley, who has clinched a playoff spot.
