Browns sign TE Connor Hamlett

The Browns signed tight end Connor Hamlett to the active roster from the practice squad.  To make room, the team waived defensive back Don Jones.  6’7, 259 pound Hamlett was originally signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in 2015, and spent time on the practice squads of Philly, New Orleans and Cleveland.

 

12 players on Injury Report

Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin listed 12 players on this week’s injury report, with three being out for Sunday’s game against the Jets…Cody Wallace, Eli Rogers and Senquez Golson.  Tomolin listed Marcus Gilbert as highly questionable.

 

Reiter out for season

Browns’ center Austin Reiter is out for the season with a torn ACL.  Reiter was the Browns’ third starting center in as many weeks.  Head coach Hue Jackson said the team will evaluate their options in the coming days.  (0-4) Cleveland hosts (3-1) New England Sunday afternoon.

 

Bell rushes for 144 yards in return game

Steelers’ running back Le’Veon Bell returned to the field Sunday night and rushed for 144 yard and had five receptions for 34 yards.  Bell credits Antonio Brown with helping him improve in the passing game.  (3-1) Pittsburgh will host the (1-3) Jets Sunday afternoon at 1.

 

Gordon entering rehab

Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon says he is entering rehab.  Gordon said it was the right decision for him and one that he hopes will enable him to game full control of his life.  Gordon was suspended for the entire 2015 season and was eligible to return next week against the Patriots.  The (0-3) Browns visit (1-2) Washington Sunday afternoon.

 

No timetable for Haden return

The Browns are hoping Joe Haden returns to the lineup after sitting last weekend with a groin strain.  Haden said there’s no timetable for his return, but “he’s feeling better and coming along.”  Cleveland visits Washington Sunday afternoon.

 

Dangerfield running with No. 1s

Steelers’ safety Jordan Dangerfield said he was “running with the No. 1s” and cornerback Justin Gulbert said the chances are “very high “ he’ll play defensive snaps Sunday night against the Chiefs.  Dangerfield spent time on the Steelers’ practice squad in 2014 and 2015.  Gulbert was acquired in a trade with Cleveland, who drafted him eighth-overall in 2014.
