Joey Votto had four hits, including a two-run homer as the Cincinnati Reds topped the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2 to complete a four-game sweep of the Redbirds.  The Cardinals have lost seven straight.

 

Gennett 4 HR Reds Thump Cards

Scooter Gennett hit four home runs and drove in 10 as the Reds thumped the Cardinals 13-1.  Gennett tied the major league record for homers in a game, and became the 17th player to homer four times in one game.  Josh Hamilton was the previous player to hit four homers in one game, for Texas against Baltimore in May 2012.

Eugenio Suarez and Scooter Gennett hit consecutive two-run doubles in the seventh, and Cincinnati came from behind to beat St. Louis 4-2.  Lisalverto Bonilla earned his 10th save by tossing a scoreless ninth for the Reds.
