Steubenville Big Red’s Ohio Division II regional semifinal game with Indian Valley was rained out in Zanesville. Game 3 of the West Virginia Double-A regional final best-of-three series between Weir High and Berkeley Springs was also washed out in Weirton. Both games have been rescheduled for today.
Weir High beat Berkeley Springs 13-0 in five innings in Game 1 of the best-of-three Regional finals. Michael Mills allowed only three hits and struck out four, at the plate he homered and drove in three for the Red Riders. Levi Mikula and Chris Gillette each had three RBI, Adam Cowden drove in two while Cody Enrietti had one RBI for Weir High. Game 2 is today in Berkeley Springs.
Big Red won its 34th sectional championship by beating East Liverpool 10-0 in six innings in the Division II playoffs. Nicky Zorne tossed a three-hitter with nine Ks for Steubenville. Nick Scott, Carlo Biasi and Michael Pierro each drove in two for Big Red.
Michael Mills tossed a no-hitter as Weir High beat East Fairmont 10-0 in five innings in the Double-A playoffs. Chris Gillette hit a two-run homer and drove in three for the Red Riders.
Weir High and Oak Glen split a doubleheader in the W.V. Double-A sectional tournament. The Red Riders scored seven runs in the seventh inning to take game 1, 7-1. The Golden Bears won game 2, 10-8 to force a deciding game 3 this afternoon at 5:30.
Wheeling Central beat Madonna 4-3 in eight innings in the Single-A sectional. Katie Gasvoda had seven Ks for the Blue Dons. Sophia Recrosio drove in two, while Karli Sutton added one RBI for Madonna.
