Utah Runs Past WVU


Zach Moss ran for 150 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown, as Utah beat West Virginia 30-14 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.  (7-6) WVU finished the season with its third straight loss.  The Mountaineers had only 153 total yards without junior QB Will Grier, who broke a finger November 18, and 1,000-yard rusher Justin Crawford, a senior who bypassed the bowl game in advance of the NFL draft.


Holgorsen Speaks At Big 12 Media Days


West Virginia seven-year head football coach Dana Holgorsen took the podium yesterday at Big 12 Media Days.  Holgorsen said “All programs, not just football at WVU have stepped up and been incredible competitive in a very competitive league.  The Mountaineers open the season Sunday, September 3 against Virginia Tech.


2 Mountaineers Earn Preseason Honors


Oklahoma senior quarterback Baker Mayfield and Kansas junior defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr. have been named the preseason Big 12 players of the year.  WVU senior running back Justin Crawford was named to the Big 12 preseason All Conference team.  Former Florida quarterback Will Grier, who will make his West Virginia debut as a junior this season, was picked as the Big 12’s top new-comer.


No. 16 West Virginia draws Miami in Russell Athletic Bowl


Building on the ninth 10-win season in program history, No. 16 West Virginia accepted a bid to the Russell Athletic Bowl to face unranked Miami on Dec. 28.

The game is slated for 5:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN from at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

The Hurricanes (8-4, 5-3 ACC) rebounded from a four-game midseason losing streak to win their last four games, including 51-28 over Pitt. There was hope among some Mountaineers fans for a holiday-style Backyard Brawl,


Johnstown, PA Cornerback Commits To The Mountaineers


Exree Loe is a 6’-0, 190 pound cornerback out of Johnstown, PA, only 90 miles from Morgantown. He originally committed to the University of Pittsburgh but chose to rescind that commitment to ensure he was making the best possible decision. Loe then narrowed his options down to the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Maryland Terrapins.
