Our nation is facing a crisis that is affecting each community across this great land. Americans, regardless of their socioeconomic background, age, race or religion are being devastated not only by the loss of life, but the destruction of the quality of life.

The opioid crisis is affecting our hometown. Based on statistics our area has one of the nations highest mortality rates as the result of overdoses.

106.3 The River and 94.9 The Ohio Valley Sports Network has launched HOMETOWN HOPE – as a means of presenting Heroin and Opioid Prevention, Education and Hope for those struggling with Heroin, Opioid and alcohol addictions.

The consequences of heroin, prescription opioid, and alcohol can no longer be ignored since the crisis is impacting public safety, public health and the economic viability of our hometown.

HOMETOWN HOPE is a collaborative effort between 106.3 The River and 94.9 The Ohio Valley Sports Network and organizations within our hometown. The goal is to protect our hometown from the dangers of heroin and opioid painkillers and to reverse the trend soaring deaths due to the abuse.

We collectively understand that the opioid crisis has an enormous reach. HOMETOWN HOPE is comprised of a number of components including: prevention and education, treatment, law enforcement & legislation, and strategic planning with a multi-dimensional approach to the challenges which lie ahead of our hometown and nation.

HOMETOWN HOPE recognizes that healthcare and law enforcement play key roles in handling this crisis, but we understand that prosecution and treatment are not enough. We are committed to working together with our diverse hometown neighbors to develop new strategies for education, prevention and intervention. Ultimately, HOMETOWN HOPE is an initiative to make our hometown healthier, safer, stronger, and drug-free!
